These improvements are the combination of two projects, one along Scholls Ferry Road, and the other at the Scholls Ferry Road/77th Avenue Intersection. Both projects were selected by the Urban Road Maintenance Advisory Committee (URMDAC) based on the need for safe pedestrian routes in this area.
We will be filling in sidewalk gaps along Scholls Ferry Road, between Laurelwood and 77th avenues.
This project, estimated at $1 million, is funded by Gain Share.
We will install a pedestrian crossing with a flashing light at this intersection.
This project, estimated at $271,000, is funded by both House Bill 2017 and the Urban Road Maintenance District (URMD).
Since 2011, 62 URMD Pedestrian and Biking Improvement Projects totaling over $33 million have been funded. The public can submit Pedestrian and Biking Improvement proposals. Eligible proposals are added to the Pedestrian and Biking Improvements candidate list, which currently has more than 200 candidates. Candidates are reviewed and projects are selected by URMDAC biennially, in odd-numbered years, for recommendation to the County Board of Commissioners.
